A SQL Server Compact database is stored in a file with the .sdf extension. The file contains the complete contents of the database and can be up to 4 GB. Such files are stored locally or in the shared folders. To connect to such database, you should provide only a full database file name (e.g. C:\Data\MSCompact\MyDatabase.sdf) and (optionally) a password.
